Le Masquerade season launched

Tuesday, December 11, 2012
HUNDREDS of soca enthusiasts turned out last Friday at New Mas Camp in east Kingston for the launch of the 2013 'Le Masquerade' Bacchanal season.
Over 12 costumes were unveiled, including six from Pure Country. Others are sponsored by the Jamaica Observer, Fame FM, Digicel, and Appleton.
Patrons at the
drink-inclusive event were entertained by DJ Smoke and Trinidad's DJ Duchess, who introduced the latest soca songs from Machel Montano, Destra Garcia, Shurwayne Winchester, and Kes
The Band.
As they danced up a sweat, 'socaphiles' quenched their thirst with intoxicating drink mixes and fruit juices.
The carnival season officially begins on February 15 with the traditional Friday nights fetes. Other events include Socacise on February 18 and 20, Beach J'Ouvert on April 5 at James Bond Beach in St Mary and Le Masquerade fashion show and Road March on April 7 in the Corporate Area.
