FIFTEEN designers from Jamaica and the Caribbean are all set to compete for the top designer on the new season of the TV reality series Mission Catwalk.

The launch of the second season was held at the Courtleigh Auditorium in Kingston on Tuesday — a season which will showcase designers from Belize, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica.

Speaking at the launch, designer and executive producer of series, Keenea Linton-George announced that the competition started with 20 contestants but five were eliminated following a first round of challenge.

Mission Catwalk is set to test and nurture the talents of contestants through numerous challenges and exercises geared at honing a range of creative skills and abilities. During the hour-long episodes, each designer will showcase their creation to the panel of judges comprising Linton-George, fashion designer Carlton Brown and lifestyle editor at the Jamaica Observer, Novia McDonald-Whyte. There will also be a guest judge each week some of whom include actress Nadia Khan and designer Claudia Pegus.

The contestants, who are housed at the Courtleigh Hotel in Kingston, will compete for prizes that include an opportunity to show a collection at the London Fashion Week in 2012 and a $500,000 funding to start his/her clothing line courtesy of National Commercial Bank.

Season Two of Mission Catwalk will premiere on TVJ on Tuesday, March 20 and will be aired in several Caribbean islands.
