New date for Fun in the Son

Saturday, February 25, 2012

FUN in the Son, the annual gospel festival, will be held on Saturday, July 14 at the National Heroes Park, National Heroes Circle in Kingston.

The event, now in its 10th year, is sponsored by the Jamaica Broilers Group through its Best Dressed Chicken brand, in association with Glory Music.

The concert is in aimed at assisting with the spiritual upliftment and transformation of lives within our nation.

Over the past nine years, the event has been held in the month of March. In explaining the reason for the change of date, Mr Christopher Levy, President and CEO of the Jamaica Broilers Group Limited - said the decision was taken to host the event closer to the Independence Celebrations so as to join in the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the nation's independence.

He noted, however, that in addition to hosting of the Best Dressed Fun in the Son Gospel Festival in Jamaica, the Group will be taking the Festival to Haiti on March 31 of this year. In the past two years, the Group has established a presence in that Caribbean country and has been engaged in the rebuilding of that island's business community, following the devastation caused by earthquake.

Over the years, hundreds of thousands of Jamaicans have attended the Best Dressed Fun in the Son Gospel Festival, which provides a spiritually rewarding and fun-filled experience for the entire family, through activities such as a Kiddies Village, live action from stunt bikers and sharing of the Gospel, ending with an outstanding evening of Ministry in Word and Song.

A number of churches have partnered with Jamaica Broilers Group and Glory Music in the staging of the annual festival by providing volunteer counselors who aid in the counseling of patrons.

Tommy Cowan, CEO of Glory Music noted that "in keeping with its original intent, vision and purpose this Festival continues to transform the lives of a generation of young people who will have a positive impact on the future of our country. I am excited about this new venue and the wonderful implications for the surrounding communities".

This year, Best Dressed Fun in the Son Gospel Festival is expected to be the largest staging yet.
