The Grace Tropical Rhythms Port Royal Seafood Festival turns 16 this year and the organising team of the event is working hard to ensure that everything goes according to plan for tomorrow's staging the Port Royal football field.

According to organiser Jennifer “Jenny Jenny” Small, the event has evolved over the years.

“The festival started with Member of Parliament Phillip Paulwell and he did it for about four years. We (Jenny Jenny Productions) have been doing it for more than ten years and we are happy that Jamaica has been there with us. Port Royal is our history and legacy and the event has kept the community vibrant. Everybody in the community benefits, and the evolution continues because of our vision,” Small explained.

In commemoration of its 16th staging, $16,000 will be given away at the event along with 16 other giveaways throughout the day.

The event kicks off with bingo at 1:00 pm. The Grace Kitchens Celebrity Cook-off will see the likes of actor and musician DBurnz, comedian and choreographer Trippple X, media personality Wesley 'Burgerman' Burger, media personality Debbie Bissoon and comedian Jehneel showcasing their culinary skills. Entertainment will feature performances from Dancin' Dynamites, gospel artiste Carey Sayles, Ibo Fyah, Zagga, Govana, Louie Culture, Nadine Sutherland and Chi Ching Ching. Talent from the community will also perform.

“We target the entire family. Children under 12 enter free and we are deliberate with that strategy. We want to ensure that the next generation enjoys the historical platform that Port Royal offers,” said Small.

As a lead up to the festival, several motorcades made stops at various schools and communities, where free tickets were given away and persons encouraged to attend the event.
