Reggae lectures in session

A series of lectures dubbed Reggae University kicked off last Friday at Emancipation Park in New Kingston with the showing of Reggae, a 90-minute documentary produced in 1970 by Junior Lincoln.
Organised by the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) as a part of its Reggae Month activities, the sessions are aimed at exposing Jamaicans and foreigners to the history and influence of reggae.
The series ends February 23. Below is a full list of activities.
February 14 — Artistes in residence — Bob Andy
February 15 — Artistes in residence — Earl 'Chinna' Smith
February 18 — The contribution of the sound system and radio to the growth of reggae — Presenter Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell
February 19 — Artistes in residence — aspiring artistes speak. Presenters Jah 9, Nomadzz, Kabaka Pyramid)
February 21 — The contribution of women to the music industry. Presenters Alaine, Cherine Anderson, Pam Hall.
