Reggae pop at bridal show
NEW YORK-BASED reggae pop artiste K’Coneil performed his latest single Gyal A Yuh, at JN Wedding Spectacular at Hope Gardens in St Andrew on Sunday.
“The song is about finding that special someone,” K’Coneil told the Jamaica Observer. The song was most fitting to an audience of many a woman waiting on a groom to carry them over the threshold.
During the break between the evening’s second fashion show, K’Coneil kicked off his short set with Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud, followed by Nick Jonans’ Jealous, before ending on an a capella version Gyal A Yuh. Jamaican by birth, K’Coneil is in New York developing what he dubs ‘reggae pop’ style, which mixes elements of both genres for a wide appeal.
“I’ve been singing since I was two at church, so it was only fitting that I made the shift into the music business once I could,” he explained.
The 28-year-old is now working on a yet-to-betitled six-track EP which he says will feature collaborations with various reggae and R&B artistes.
