MONTEGO Bay, St James: Actor Boy-winning playwright David Tulloch promised a production like no one has ever seen on a Jamaican stage. And, he did just that on Sunday.
Risqué not only pushes the envelope, it rips it and throws it through the window with its strong sexual content and explicit scenes.
The story — complete with jaw-dropping twists — is centred on a couple who scams other persons out of millions.
"Based on dancehall's strong influence on our culture, I thought it would have reached out to the Jamaican audience. Also, as a playwright, I feel it's my duty to cater to all audiences. So, you do something conventional and then something that is not so conventional," he said.
Tulloch feels that persons have been receptive to the product.
"People have been responding greatly to the piece. They are enjoying themselves thoroughly and have started to appreciate that this is history in the making. This has never been done," he said.
The play stars Marlon Brown, Alexia Stewart, Curly Roberts, and Stacy Blake.
Tulloch is also eyeing a Kingston run.
"We are looking into the possibility of Risqué in Kingston," he said.
