Robert Minott has made his name as a promoter, having staged a concert in Jamaica a few years ago featuring R&B and hip hop acts Trey Songz and Yung Joc. He also promoted the annual World Beat Music Festival in Texas.

Now, Minott has his sights set on making similar impact as a recording artiste. After debuting in 2008 with the track Roll It featuring dancehall artiste Elephant Man, Minott took some time off to concentrate on events promotion.

He has returned with a bouncy reggae ballad called Right Man Fi Yuh which has been enjoying considerable attention on FM radio.

In an interview at the Anchor Recording studio earlier this week while working on a few tracks with producer Sly Dunbar, Minott spoke about his upcoming set.

"The album is called Night Shift and it's going to consist mostly of R&B, funk and hardcore reggae material. I am really excited about it," he said.

The session saw Minott completing three songs with Dunbar. The following day he worked with Dalton Browne, Dannie Bassie, Dean Fraser and Robbie Lynn on two additional tracks.

Said Minott: "The sessions were great. They were more of an international reggae vibe."

Minott revealed that Roll It afforded him the opportunity of tapping into a fan base that he previously had no connection to. "Working with Elephant Man took my thing to a next level. It was pretty good and it exposed me to a bigger market," said Minott.

Asked what he's bringing to the musical game, Minott said "Excitement, good music, and love. I just want to bring different people together with my music."

Star A Star and Bottle Party rhythms from TJ Records

The year 2010 was a quiet one for Billboard charting producer TJ Records. However, he managed to keep the momentum going with the inescapable Touch A Button by Vybz Kartel and the DNA rhythm project.

TJ is off to a good start in 2011 as he recently released the Bottle Party and Star A Star rhythm projects. Both rhythms are among the bombs being unleashed upon unsuspecting dancehall fans. The Bottle Party features Hear Dem A Talk by Popcaan; More Than Neo by Vybz Kartel; Popping Bottles by Beenie Man and Lolita; and Chuck Off by Bugle.

Cute Baby by Richie Feelings; Nuh Fear Dem by Assassin; Wife A Wife by Lady Saw; and Truck Tru by Tony Matterhorn, are the missiles accompanying the loaded Star A Star rhythm.

Additionally, TJ has another dance floor jam called Turn Up Di Scheme by Vybz Kartel, which has been wreaking havoc. Known for the hit-injected Unfinished Business rhythm project, TJ is one of a handful of Jamaican producers who have had multiple successes on the American pop and R&B charts.

Unfinished Business cruised its way into several Billboard charts with hits such as I'm So Special by Mavado; and No Games by Serani.

In the ethnic markets, the project unleashed party jams with joints such as Rolling Deep by Flippa Mafia, Guide And Protect by Assassin and Water Man by Buju Banton.

Upcoming artiste Roxwayne releases Love Alone

Clarendon-based singjay Roxwayne is hoping to make some inroads on the music scene with a handful of recordings that he has completed for Sajay Productions. His latest single, Love Alone, was first recorded in 2009 but was recently released.

"They say good things come to those who wait, and this song, I believe, can definitely open the doors for me," Roxwayne says confidently.

Money Haffie Mek and Hungry Days are among the recently completed songs that Roxwayne has done with Romayne Alexander's Sajay Productions. Alexander is the nephew of the late producer Henry 'Junjo' Lawes whose Volcano label created an eruption of sorts on the musical radar in the 1980s.

Born Cornelius Messam, Roxwayne's foray into music came when he sang on his church choir during his teenage years.
