Romain Virgo on second solo European tour

Friday, July 01, 2011

Singer, Romain Virgo left the island last Wednesday for a one-and-a-half month tour of Europe. The tour, which is his second solo European tour, will take him to a number of places including, Barcelona (Spain), Rome (Italy), Portugal, Munster (Germany), Paris (France), Mannheim (Germany), Goteborg (Switzerland) and other European cities.

Romain, who has managed to build a career while continuing his Bachelors Degree at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, says, thus far his tour has been going exceptionally well.

"Most of the places I have been to and will be performing at for the rest of the tour, are actual festivals. So that's a great platform to continue to get my music out there and gain new audiences and fans. The reception has been great as well. People are loving the songs and singing along and always eager for more music. It's a lot of hard work to continuously be on the road -- leaving for a new country or a new city right after a performance, but music is something I love. So while I have the platform to do it, I'm gonna give it my all," said Romain who came to the musical fore in 2007 thanks to Digicel Rising Stars.

The singer has also been leaving quite a musical footprint on several local and international reggae charts. His single, Taking You Home is currently number 19 on the New York Reggae Charts and number 7 on Richie B's Top 25 Reggae Singles Chart while one of his latest singles, Rich In Love is number 3 on the Global Reggae Top 40 Chart.

When he returns to the island, he says there are plans to release even more new singles.
