Entertainment

Friday, August 03, 2012

The happenings at the Olympic games now underway in London are being woven into the entertainment package of the events which comprise the party series SPF weekend set for Ocho Rios from tomorrow to Sunday.

According to a representative of the organisers Safi James-Barrow , Jamaicans are extremely connected to this year's olympics and so didnt want out patrons missing out on the action.

"We are adding big screens at most of the events and really creating a sports and entertainment vibe. We are also incorporating the games into our sports and sponsors' pool lime at The Jewel resort in Ocho Rios on Saturday morning."

The SPF weekend officially kicks off tomorrow with the Catamaran Cruise. James Barrow explains that this event is styled based on the popular booze cruises during carnival in Trinidad and Cropover in Barbados.

Friday's events will culminate with Eye Candy at Cary Island in St Ann.

Saturday will see the Pool Lime as the main morning event followed by Fiction — The Sunset Party at Mammee Bay Beach.

Sunday activities feature a mini glf turnament and the highly anticipated Soiree at The Cove, Drax Hall Estate.

James-Barrow notes that the parties which are not already sold out, only have limited tickets remaining.

She attributes this to what she calls a premium entertainment package which is tailored for the 25-45 year old audience. She adds that will a small number of parties, the organisers are able to concentrate on delivering quality entertainment.

"We're really bringing back the holiday vibe to Ocho Rios. Previously everyone headed to that north coast town for the independence holiday. It has shifted to Negril, but that's why there's SPF."
