REGGAE/dancehall producer Omar 'Smartkid' Quarry is currently working on tracks for the upcoming album Revision.

According to Quarry, the 15-track dancehall and reggae compilation will feature acts Sizzla Kalonji, Lutan Fyah and Beenie Man.

"We are currently in the process of choosing the tracks, all of which I expect to be well received by the reggae/dancehall market. I am also working towards releasing it this summer," Quarry told the Jamaica Observer.

The 29-year-old producer is best known for the 2011- released Venom Riddim which features Sizzla's Say Dem a Badman, Spragga Benz's Life We Face and Junior Reid's Public Favourite.

Hailing from Portmore, St Catherine, the producer released his debut project in 2007 called Life Riddim CD. The track listing includes Lutan Fyah's Youth of Today and Zamunda's Battlefield.

But how does he continue to attract big name artistes to his recording studio?

"What I did was to invest in a state-of-the-art recording studio. This way, I barter with some of the artistes. Instead of charging them to use the studio, I will ask them to record on one of my projects," he said.

As promoter of the annual True Frenz stage show in Portmore, Smartkid said he has earned the respect of his peers through his productions.

"I don't take crap from any artiste, I only produce good music. It doesn't matter how famous the entertainer is," said the producer.

"I didn't always want to be a producer, as during my earlier years, I wanted to be a singer but I found that without adequate support it was not easy to make the transition into the music industry," he continued.

The producer said he refused to let go of his muscical dreams and remained passionate and committed to becoming a major player in the music industry.

As his musical interest diverted to production, Smartkid said he began taking online courses after he formed the business Smartkid Records & Publishing Company, after which, he launched Smartkid Records Studio in 2010.
