Styling with: Romae

Wednesday, September 08, 2010

She has been one of the early pacemakers for local model agency, Pulse. With credits which include Cosmo and Slimmer, Romae Gordon is definitely a style maven. So what is this look and style that still turns heads years after she has retired from the runway. Romae describes her sense of style in three words, classic, elegant and timeless. She explains: "I really like clean lines and solids, black and white pieces form the base of my wardrobe. I am not a fan of tonnes of jewellery and go for minimal make-up.

As fashion director at Pulse, organisers of Caribbean Fashion Week, Romae is definitely a fan of regional and local designers, Meiling, Julan, Sandra Kennedy and Drenna Luna are among the designers which she favours.

She could not pick that one piece in her wardrobe as a favourite, but instead names a tea dress by Sandra Kennedy, a top by London-based designer Ted Baker, a skirt by Meiling made with yards of fabric and a denim Biggy jacket which she takes everywhere she travels as among her favourite pieces.

You never see Romae without the what is becoming her signature — eyewear. "The truth is they are all prescriptions and not just being worn for style, they are functional," she reveals. Her favourite brands for glasses include Prada, Fendi and Versace

When it comes the scent, this former fashion model splashes Chanel. "I really like Chanel Allure, as really like the soft, light, lemony fragrance which is really fresh and clean especially for daytime."
