CLINTON Lindsay, who has compiled the New York/South Florida reggae charts for nearly 40 years, is marking Jamaica's 50th year of independence with lists of Top 50 artistes, albums, songs, labels, and producers.

Lindsay assembled the tables with the assistance of Sam Mitchell, who worked at Tropical Records and Federal Records in the 1960s.

Producer Lloyd Campbell of Joe Fraser Records, Everald 'Jah Ruby' Metcalfe, DJ Roy, Marlon Burrell and Russell Gerlach were also consulted for the Lindsay lists.

Lindsay has been promoting reggae music in the United States for over 30 years. In 1981, he joined the staff at WHBI 105.9FM (later changed to WNWK), where he stayed until 1997. He founded New York City's first reggae awards show — The Tamika Reggae Awards — which was first held in 1989.
