PORTLAND singjay Cee Gee has paid his dues recording for a number of producers, but has yet to make the big breakthrough.
One of his latest projects is the song Verse One and a mixtape titled Show My Crew Respect.
He is particularly excited about Verse One which is scheduled for release in November.
"I won't say anything much about it right now, but it's gonna be maad!" he told the Jamaica Observer.
Verse One is produced by Huel Jackson of RudeLikeDat Entertainment and Native Recording Studio in Portland.
That team also produced Tin Mackerel and White Rice, a song recorded in 2004 on the Bronchitis rhythm.
Since then, Cee Gee has done songs such as Sittn Sittn on producer Kurt Riley's Animal Instinct 'riddim' and Chat Some Supn which was produced by ZJ Chrome.
He says their popularity in Europe has earned him concert dates in Germany, Switzerland and Sweden as well as Canada, the United States and Zimbabwe.
Three years ago, he was part of Beenie Man's MD Entertainment organisation.
Born Cheston Gossett in Portland, Gee Gee lived in St Mary and St Ann, before returning to his home parish where he attended Titchfield High School.
He acknowledges the competitiveness of the dancehall scene, especially among aspirants like himself.
"If I focus too much on the other hopefuls, then I'd be wasting time that I could be using to put in work," he said.
