Vibes Matrixxx to release debut album

Tuesday, July 03, 2012

SINGAY Vibes Matrixxx hopes to drop his debut album this summer. It will include songs he has done during the last decade as well as new tracks.

“So far, we have 14 songs to choose from but things are looking good for the album,” Matrixxx said.

Cashpot and One More are two of the new songs, both recorded for the Signature Records label. Island Vibes was done for the One Room Garrison imprint, while Things Out Here was self-produced for Vibes Matrixxx’ Bruck Bulb label.

Vibes Matrixxx is part of the vibrant Portmore dancehall scene. Influenced by Garnet Silk and Buju Banton, the 33-year-old says he has been writing songs since his early teens.

His first, Opportunity, was recorded in the Bahamas where he lived for two years, performing regularly on stage shows and at the Blue Nite Club in Nassau, the capital.

An electrician by trade, Vibes Matrixxx (real name Howard Nembhard) stuck to music on his return to Jamaica, doing songs like One Day Girl, a lovers rock song that earned considerable airplay.

He has appeared on several live shows including Reggae Salute at Liguanea Club in St Andrew and the Flow Road Show in Portmore.
