Welcome to Jamrock to return?
LIME signs Junior Gong as brand ambassador
Friday, February 10, 2012
THE popular concert series Welcome to Jamrock featuring Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley may well return to the entertainment scene this year after a four-year hiatus.
Marley's mother, and principal behind the event Cindy Breakspeare told Splash that her team is currently in discussions with various partners to bring back the concert which has seen three stagings in the past.
"A lot of people have been asking for a return of Welcome to Jamrock, and we think it would be great to have it back this year, during the Jamaica 50 celebrations, "she continued.
Meanwhile, telecommunications firm LIME, has signed Junior Gong as its newest brand ambassador.
The announcement was made on Wednesday night at the Bob Marley Museum on Hope Road in St Andrew.
LIME chairman Chris Dehring noted that the partnership with the young Marley will see customers being the first to access a series of projects and a new album, which is set to be released later this year.
"LIME customers across the region will be the first to hear new music, see exclusive content and follow Damian on his journey to producing his new ablum via our mobile, internet and television portals," Dehring added.
Speaking of his new album, Junior Gong notes that no date has been set for its release, however, a number of singles will precede the project. These include the catchy Set Up Shop, as well as Affairs of the Heart — the music video for the latter had its world premiere at Wednesday's event.
