Whitney Houston’s ‘Sparkling’ swan song

Friday, August 17, 2012 | 10:48 AM

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Whitney Houston’s last performance, Sparkle, will see its international release this weekend.

The movie, which also stars singers Jordin Sparks and Cee-Lo Green, depicts Houston as a devout Christian, Emma, who failed to make it as a singer and who wants to prevent her three daughters from going down the same path.

Houston, who had a long history of cocaine use, was found dead in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills hotel in the US. Coroners later said she accidentally drowned.

Known for her hugely successful hits including “I Will Always Love You” and “I Have Nothing”, Houston also starred in a handful of films such as The Bodyguard (1992) and Waiting to exhale (1995).
