Reggae Wednesdays kick off at Emancipation Park
Wednesday, February 06, 2013 | 7:44 PM
KINGSTON Jamaica — The annual Reggae Wednesdays kicked off this afternoon at the Emancipation Park in Kingston with The Jamaica Symphony Orchestra on stage.
The Orchestra, conducted by John Williams served up a medley of Bob Marley songs in tribute to the King of Reggae on the anniversary of his birthday.
Made up of Jamaicans the Orchestra blended the typical brass, woodwind and string sections with a unique Caribbean steel band section.
The Wareika Hill-based Mystic Revelation of Rastafari (MRR) performed after the orchestra, showcasing the interesting range of reggae music.
Other artistes to take the stage are Mystic Revealers, Ska Rebirth, Ras Michael and the Sons of Negus and Fabian Marley.
Reggae Wednesdays will continue during February, celebrated as Back History Month and Reggae Month in Jamaica.
