Bounty's lover charged with public mischief

Saturday, April 17, 2010

KADEEM Baker, the girlfriend of dancehall deejay, Bounty Killer, was yesterday charged with public mischief, when the two appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Bounty, whose real name is Rodney Basil Pryce, was granted bail in the sum of $200,000, after spending close to two weeks in jail. He had been charged with assault after he allegedly beat Baker, his girlfriend of three years. The police also reported that Pryce called the complainant in their presence while he was being processed and threatened her life.

However, since Bounty's first court appearance last week, Baker, who is a model, had asked that the charges be dropped as she and Bounty wanted to get on with their life together. Her lawyer yesterday requested mediation as an alternative, after which the Resident Magistrate, ordered that Baker be charged with creating public mischief.

If the Police tells the Judge that Pryce used his one phone call to call this girl and threaten her life in their presence, how can the Judge slap her with a charge because she if afraid for her life and decides to drop the charges? As one person commented, should she make herself into a dead hero? I did not hear of another charge being slapped on Pryce for that threat on the girl's life. For those who think she is foolish for dropping the charges, how would you suggest she protect her life post trial and conviction (assuming he was found guilty)?

Corey C "I don't understand people, I went to school with Rodney, and I"m not here to defend him. MY comment is : there are always 3 sides to every story. In this case, her side, his side and the truth which only our God almighty knows. "
You think people a ediat or what. If he hit her it dont matter how many side the story have it is wrong. Only a brute resorts to violence. And brutes must be condemned not condoned. Otherwise we are not civilized.

Member you always hear the hunter's story, never the animals, hunter could have stumble up on a dead animal. Its there life, let them live it, if they so choose to live it in public and folks follow it. What that says about your life? We may pay them to entertain us on stage, so why entertain their private lives for free? Read a story, draw something from it, a lesson of sort, then move on.

I am surprised at the courts decision to charge this woman with Public Mischief. It is a well known fact that women stay in abusive relationships because of low self worth caused by fear. In addition, Killers friends and cronies were badgering her to drop the charges. I hope that the court whenever it is called up again will chare him to the full extent. This man has a history of arrogance and mischief and should pay the civic cost.

I don't understand how this girl is being charged with anything, I suspect retaliation against her because she came out in the first place, these artists have connections. All of this need to stop. Women should be duly respected, what happened to the Jamaica I grew up in where women were called "Princess" and "Queen", does he not have a mother, women are the ones who do the real work, provide for and raise the children, take care of families, the sick, the elderly. For all the compassion and work women do, they really deserve better treatment. Whats wrong with society these days why this is forgotten? If it continues, there will be a breakdown and we will all suffer. Stop singing about what "Mama" do for you and start appreciating and taking care of her and all the prospective Mamas out there!

She is just another woman adding to the list of women who have dropped abused charges against him over the years. Sad but true? but then again if he was not a man of means she and the others would not even look at him. Selling their dignity for a few dollars.
Then agin maybe like the other before her she felt she had no choice.

Bounty needs to do better than this, he is 38 yrs. old tome to make a change. And I read here someone saying his career is over, I wonder?? Remember Chris Brown?? look what he did to that lady what was her name?? yes I can't even remember her name.. And idiots are still buying Chris Brown. So Bounty all I can say is do better and as one person here wrote go out you and Kareem, make some positive public talk to young people... No form of abuse is good.

Ras. I only know Bounty as a Jamaican singer. I am from Canada. otherwise I don`t know much about him. Jamaica is blessed with a lot of good singers and DJs.

Does ANYONE think this young women had any choice. If he was brazen enough to threaten her life in earshot of the police do you think he has any fear of the law. NO...he knows he has the power. If he had been found guilty her life would be over. If not dead close. She chose to LIVE.

Since Bounty and the alleged victim are public figures the court should conditionally inpose appearances in a community capicity where they openly talk about the incident to bring awareness

These two sound as if they deserve each other. It is a waste of taxpayers' money and a waste of court time when the law tries to protect women who turn around and recant their stories and even attack the law enforcers. They should both pay some fines for it. There are so many women who are victims of domestic abuse. They struggle to be taken seriously. Now, here is this woman trying to undermine the efforts of those who respond to the plight. It sickens me when some women give the world the impression that women love to be beaten by their men. Anyone who would suggest that this man should be a role model must be insane.

Both should be given sentences, Bounty especially. Once the police is called and the investigation is completed, if there is sufficient evidence, then they should proceed with the matter, with or without the blessings of the victim. Too many chances have been given to Bounty; it's about time the law takes its course.

The girl's an idiot and yes it was right to charge her. Just because he's famous she's condoning what he did to her. No man should use violence against another person. So I assume the next time she wants to finish with him and he beats her up that's goin to be alright because of who is and his so-called friends pressurising her not to charge him. What is wrong with these women today? Choosing fame and fortune rather than their self-respect.
Bounty your're not a man and you are a role model for no-one. You should be ashamed that this is the way you behave against a female and think that this is ok - You need to go to jail.

Bunty need to be a 'role module' for Jamaica children? Steve Allen, no personal offense meant, but it is a mind set such as yours why Jamaica's children are disadvantaged. Why should Bounty be an example to Jamaican children? True he has done a few good tunes (specifically "BOOK") but these are serious times we are living in, you need to seek and find the men who are teaching our children knowledge about Culture, Africa, History, Real world politics etc.. and guide the youth in their direction. The message to our youth cannot be POOR PEOPLE FED UP, it must be GET UP STAND UP

That young lady is joking with life. I hope she never has to call the police for the same reason again.

Do they take the court for a joke business ? I hope Bounty has learned his lesson and should never get himself involved in such issues again. Bounty needs to be a role module for the young Jamaican children and not a distraction for them.
