The Church of St Mary the Virgin, located on Molynes Road in St Andrew, will host their second annual fund-raising concert titled 'Hosannah 2019: A Festival of Praise' on Sunday. Showtime is 5:00 pm.

“Hosannah 2019 is our annual fundraiser in aid of the church ministries, Sunday School, young ministry and other areas of the Church like upgrading its facilities,” Elaine Gregory, a member of the organising committee, told the Jamaica Observer.

Rostered to perform are four choirs, including that of the Church of St Mary the Virgin; eight soloists; several duets; and dance numbers. Amongst the soloists are DiMario McDowell, Davian Clarke, Kevin Williams and Jadiel Lindsay. Leading the duets are Father Leslie Mowatt and Andre Taylor.

Last year, the concert was held during the church's 57th anniversary. It was under the distinguished patronage of former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller ON, MP.

“It was well received; it was truly a musical affair. Guests said it certainly was a blessed evening of musical enchantment,” said Gregory.

The organising committee member said while the 2018 staging was well received, the fund-raising efforts fell short.

“The collections could have been much better, but we give God thanks and praise,” Gregory added.
