SINGERS Romain Virgo and Nesbeth are scheduled to provide the musical selections for Miss Jamaica World Grand Coronation Show at the National Indoor Sport Centre in St Andrew on Saturday, September 23.

Eighteen finalists will be vying for the coveted title of Miss Jamaica World 2017 and a chance to win $1 million in cash prize.

Pagaent director Kandi King said this year's contestants are quite a talented crop.

“We have an exceptionally talented group of finalists... we have a policewoman, flight attendants, and ballet dancers... And the camaraderie between them is something special,” King told the Jamaica Observer yesterday.

The finalists — who made their first public appearance at the Sovereign Centre in St Andrew earlier this month — are: Shantel Gardner, Kadejah Anderson, Brianne St Juste, Jaavonne Taylor, Latoya Tingle, Solange Sinclair, Amaya Lewis, Megan McNaughton, Rochelle Duncan, Sukanya Wilmot, Alana Pennant, Alyssa Boothe, Sasha Henry, Leah Hollingsworth, Jeneque Pinnock, Melissa Douglas, Deidre McKenzie, and Sashell McKenzie.

The winner will represent the country at the international final scheduled for the Crown of Beauty Theatre, Sanya in China, on November 18.

King said the entertainment package is something patrons should look forward to.

“We'll have Yendi Phillips (Miss Jamaica World 2007) and social media personality Quite Perry as co-hosts, as well as Romain Virgo and Nesbeth in performance,” she said.

The youngest winner of televised talent competition, Digicel Rising Stars, Virgo has grown into a bonafide lovers' rock singer. He is known for his hits including I Am Rich In Love, Stay With Me and Don't You Remember. Nesbeth is known in music circles for his positive music message. His hits include Success Story, Board House and the smash hit My Dream.

The event will be streamed live on Spartan TV https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLSjrDhh3FSBU-8kncN0z1g.

Presented by Spartan Health Club, Miss Jamaica World pageant sponsors include 876 Blue Mountain Spring Water, Melia Braco Village, Executive Motors/Mazda, Maybelline Cosmetics, ORS HAIR CARE, Maxie Dept Stores, Eyeland Eyewear, Dolphin Cove, and Charles Whittington Collections — the official shoe sponsor.
