Dub poet Richie Innocent is nominated in the Best-Spoken Word/Dub Poet category of the 36th annual International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA).

“I feel blessed and honoured to be nominated for this award. This is the first time I have been nominated for any award, and I am grateful to the organisers for this recognition,” said Richie Innocent.

“This nomination is not just for me. It's for all my supporters, my team and everyone who believed in me. I have been inspired by all the great poets including Mutabaruka and Yasus Afari,” he continued.

The IRAWMA is scheduled to take place on March 18 in Chicago, Illinois.

Richie is currently enjoying attention with his thought-provoking single titled Monster.

“This poem was released almost a year ago, and it's still going strong. Everywhere I go people ask me to perform it,” he said.

“This is going to be a hectic year for me; I plan to release several new singles and an EP. I'm also working on a book that will be published later this year,” he added.
