August Town has produced a number of roots artistes in the last 20 years. The latest is 12-year-old singjay, Zion.

A protégé of Sizzla, Zion makes his recording debut with Di Youths Dem Addi Future, produced by Tamo Music Productions, out of the United Kingdom.

The song is an appeal to “bigger heads” in Jamaican society to give his generation an opportunity to excel.

Now in sixth grade at August Town Primary, Zion splits his time between school, the recording studio and performing on live shows such as Spring Break and Fun Fest.

His musical influences include Popcaan and Buju Banton, but Sizzla has had most impact on him.

“I love (Sizzla's) Thank You Mama 'cause him singing 'bout him family, especially him mother,” said Zion.

Zion has been in music since he was six years-old. His father, Derrick Style, is also a singer while his cousin Errol “Tamo” Melbourne, principal of Tamo Music Productions, is one of the UK's leading reggae drummers.
