The Climate Change Division of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation has scheduled a public consultation at the Montego Bay Cultural Centre today to discuss Jamaica's Third National Communication and its Biennial Update Report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The proceedings are expected to begin at 9:00.

The consultation is part of the country's obligations under the convention to which it became signatory in 1995. Parties are requested to report periodically on their inventory of man-made emissions and removals of greenhouse gases not controlled by the Montreal Protocol. They are also required to provide details of activities the country has undertaken to implement articles of the Convention.

This is the third such national communication that is to be submitted by Jamaica.
