Fashion's Night Out
Old Capital stylings
Tuesday, September 13, 2011
FOR the second time Jamaica OBSERVER CELEBRATES FASHION'S NIGHT OUT (FNO) 2011 was presented to the former capital, Spanish Town.
As the night progessed, potential shoppers strolled in and out of the stores keenly inspecting various items of interest. Stores displayed their stocks in high quantities to the point where some even set up tables on the outside of the store to attract customers.
TEENage visited the various participating stores in Spanish Town to see the people's participation.
Discount Appliances & TV Depot: It has been going good from this morning and there is a better turnout this year than last. I will definitely be participating next year. (Manish, store manager)
Discount Gifts & Jewellers: It has been going good so far. The day was dead then started to pick up. The people are not really buying anything; they just come and look around. Last year was better. (Yogesh, store manager)
Top A Top Fashions: This year is not really better than last year, but it is still ok. Anytime Fashion's Night Out is keeping we have to always be a part of it. (Jwetu, store manager)
Western Sports: It is a quiet night. It's not what we had anticipated based on the extent to which it was promoted. (Christopher McKenzie, manager)
La Vega Pharmacy: Based on the responses from other places, we decided to be a part of Fashion Night Out this year but it's not that impressive. (Olive Baker, supervisor)
SK Jewellers: This is not the best time and people are not buying much. Last year was better than this year because it was later down. This year it's too close to back-to-school time. (Raj, manager)
Big Buy Variety: I cannot really give a comparison at this time between last and this year. (store owner)
Fashion Depot Shoes: It is good, but last year was much better. Last year we had to be running people out of the store at one and two o'clock the next morning. I think it should be pushed back away from the back-to-school shopping time. (Bharat Keshwani, manager)
Speed Electronics: It could have been better if it was month end. Overall, it was ok, not very good.
