Fashion's Night Out
VMBS offering savings for FNO
Wednesday, September 07, 2011
VICTORIA Mutual Building Society (VMBS) is utilising the opportunity provided by the Jamaica Observer's Celebration of Fashion's Night Out (FNO) to encourage more Jamaicans to engage in the smart practice of saving.
As such, the firm has established a number of strategic saving partnerships with select stores, giving patrons a chance to win a $5,000 savings voucher, in addition to their discount.
VMBS said it will be hosting a number of exclusive lounges in Kingston, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and Mandeville, so that patrons may relax during the five-hour shopping experience tomorrow night.
"Persons who visit our lounges at Base and Belle in Manor Park, Nettle and Moss on Lady Musgrave, the Mall Plaza, Whitter Village in Montego Bay and Manchester Shopping Centre in Mandeville, will also have an opportunity to win attractive savings certificates on the night of the event," VMBS said.
The company said that its continuous drive to create greater value for its members and Jamaicans on a whole was the main factor influencing its decision to sponsor the event.
"One such way is to suggest alternatives that will help to maximise their savings and improve the quality of their financial life," said VMBS.
The firm encouraged shoppers to "be strategic in their purchasing and to shop responsibly, ensuring that they only spend what they can afford and what is budgeted for each item they purchase".
It pointed out that its 'One Less' savings campaign proposes one such approach, ie the principle of cutting back on discretionary spending and looking for cheaper alternatives in order to accumulate funds over the medium to long term.
"It also demonstrates how small changes in spending patterns, along with a set savings plan can make a big impact on one's life, by helping... to accumulate funds over time," VMBS said.
