16-y-o boy dies in accidental shooting

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The police are reporting that a 16-year-old boy in Portmore, St Catherine died yesterday after being accidentally shot.

He is identified as Daniel Ray.

According to reports, Ray and another teen were playing with a firearm when it went off, hitting him in the head.

The incident happened about 3:40 pm.

Lawmen were summoned and Ray was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police did not provide further information, but reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that the weapon belonged to a relative of one of the teens.
