2 toddlers rescued from locked BMW X6

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A woman who unintentionally locked two toddlers inside a BMW X6 yesterday afternoon suffered some nervous moments during a near half-hour attempt to rescue the children.

Police and firefighters rushed to the parking area of the Winchester Business Centre on Hope Road, in the Half-Way-Tree area of Kingston, where men among a crowd witnessing the early afternoon drama tried different measures to free the children from the hot vehicle.

The Jamaica Observer was unable to determine how the two toddlers became locked inside the vehicle.

However, it became clear that the key to the high-end vehicle was inside the female driver’s handbag, which was, itself locked inside the car.

Eventually, a pick axe was used to force enough space between the driver door and the cabin, allowing the driver to reach into her bag and get the key.

Once the doors were opened, the toddlers were rushed to a doctor in complex.
