KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Tax Administration Jamaica is reminding property owners that the property tax payment deadline for the fiscal year 2014-2015 is Wednesday, April 30.

TAJ in an advisory Tuesday morning said that the tax, which became due on April 1, has not been increased and therefore payment remains the same as last year.

Property tax payments may be made in half-yearly or quarterly instalments with the first instalment payable by April 30, the TAJ said.

Any property tax paid in full, or first instalment, made after April 30 may attract a 10 per cent penalty, the agency added.

Property owners can pay their property tax online via the Jamaica Tax Portal at www.jamaicatax-online.gov.jm, using a credit card, instead of visiting a tax office, the TAJ advised.

People unsure of the amount of property tax owed may also log on the website and enter their valuation number to check the status of their payments going back seven years, the agency added.
