TWENTY-three-year-old Courtney Hutchinson from Bloomfield in Manchester died this morning in a motor vehicle accident along Caledonia Road in Mandeville.

He was reportedly driving his grey Honda Civic south along Caledonia Road about 3:00 am when he overtook a red Daihatsu close to the junction of Caledonia and South Race Course roads.

He lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a Honda CRV travelling in the opposite direction.

The Daihatsu hit the embankment and overturned.

All three drivers were taken to the Mandeville Hospital where Hutchinson died while undergoing surgery.

The other two drivers were treated and released with minor injuries.

Hutchinson’s mother, Sheryl Plummer, said she warned her son repeatedly about the manner in which he drove on the road but he did not heed the warnings.

She said Hutchinson’s license was suspended for a year and he only received it back last October.

This accident happened less than a week after 44 persons were injured when a Toyota Hiace bus, in a failed attempt to overtake another, crashed on the Pen Hill main road in the parish.
