24 accused lottery scammers to face Westmoreland court in September

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Twenty-four accused lottery scammers, including the alleged mastermind of the multi-million dollar network, are to answer to charges of breaches of the Law Reform Fraudulent Transactions Special Provisions Act, 2013 in September.

According to reports from the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA), detectives launched an investigation into a major lottery scam network operating in Westmoreland
in November 2015 and reportedly found that during 2015 – 2016, Kewayne Thomas and his alleged associates fleeced several elderly United States citizens of more than $9.5 million.

Thomas, otherwise known as Christopher Thomas and 'Cutta' of a Hermitage, Bethel Town, Westmoreland address, was charged on July 2 and was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Westmoreland Parish Court last Tuesday.

He is scheduled to return to court with his 23 co-accused on Tuesday, September 18.
