Fair Prospect, Portland - 25 Haitians arrived at Kensington, Portland this morning at about 6:20.

The police reported that they responded to a call after citizens spotted the boat coming into shore early this morning. Reports are that the Haitians left from G'erimi in Haiti about nine days ago en route to the United States.

The Haitians were taken to the Fair Prospect Health Centre where they were examined by medical personnel.

Those arriving this morning were 18 adults and seven children -four boys and three girls.

According to reports at least one woman is a repeat visitor to the island as her child, also among the 25, was allegedly born in Jamaica.

This is the first set of Haitians to arrive here in two years, the last set returned home by the JDF Coast Guard.
