KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s 400m phenomenon Akeem Bloomfield took another significant step in his career by signing a professional contract with Puma.

Bloomfield, who will turn 21 in October, told OBSERVER ONLINE that he has made up his mind.

“I have finally made the decision to become a professional athlete so I will definitely be going pro and I will be signing with Puma,” Bloomfield confirmed.

The former Kingston College star, now at Auburn University, is in Jamaica after a magnificent season where he broke the Jamaica National 400m Indoor record with 44.86s and was just a whisker away from the national outdoor record of 43.93s, clocking 43.94s on June 8.

The tall runner is the National Junior Record holder for the 400m after he clocked 44.93s at the Boys and Girls Athletics Championship in 2015.
