76-y-o St James man perishes in house fire

ST JAMES, Jamaica – A76-year-old retired farmer, Ewan Thorpe, of Plum Road in Cambridge, St James perished in a fire at his home on Thursday, November 7, the police have reported.

Reports from the Cambridge Police are that relatives saw fire coming from a section of his house about 3:00 am and raised an alarm.

The police and the fire department were summoned and after cooling down operations were conducted, Thorpe's charred remains were found in his bedroom, the police said. Investigations into the cause of the fire continue, the police added.
