ST JAMES, Jamaica — The St James police are reporting that a child succumbed to injuries he received in a motor vehicle accident at a school in the parish yesterday.

The child has since been identified as eight-year-old Easton Stapleton, of Belmont district in St James.

Reports from the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Corporate Communications Unit are that Easton was attempting to pick up his bag in school's parking lot when he reportedly was hit by a vehicle driven by a female who was allegedly attempting to reverse her car but lost control.

Police say the incident happened about 3:50 pm and that Easton reportedly received injuries to his neck and face.
