Accused killer cop was a churchman
Yallahs, St Thomas — Residents of Logwood and surrounding districts in St Thomas have today maintained their protest in Yallahs against the weekend shooting death of a pregnant woman and the injuring of her sister, allegedly by a police officer.
“Murder”, “Cold Bloodied murder” “We want justice for Kayann” read some of the placards waved by the angry residents close to the Yallahs police station.
But while the outraged residents voice their disgust at the alleged action of the cop, some insist it has come as a complete surprise.
“I am shocked because that policeman is not known to be that type of a person,” one demonstrator told the Jamaica Observer today.
“I’ve never seem him on the road in any conflict with people. I didn’t expect that from him, he is a churchman. He even sings in Church sometimes," the St Thomas resident said to the approval of many around.
Allegations are that the policeman and the pregnant woman got into a tussle after he attempted to arrest her for using expletives.
Details are unclear, however, reports from people claiming to be eyewitnesses are that the policeman shot the woman in the head and turned the gun on her sister when she attempted to assist.
In the meantime, the Jamaica Constabulary Force has provided protection for relatives of the accused cop.
