NASSAU, Bahamas (CMC) — A 60-year-old American citizen is due to appear in court this week after she was arrested over the last weekend with nearly three pounds of cocaine taped to her waist.

Police said that the woman, who was searched at the Freeport Harbour on Friday night, was found to have in her possession 2.5 pounds of cocaine with a street value of US$2,500.

She is one of three people whom the police said they arrested over the weekend on drug related charges.

In the other cases, police said two men have been detained on possession of marijuana and the search is on for another, who eluded capture.

The police said that all the suspects are to be arraigned before the Magistrate Court early this week.
