KINGSTON, Jamaica — Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett has announced that yet another cruise ship is to dock in Kingston harbour today.

The Mein Schiff operated by German based TUI Cruises with over 2,000 mainly European passengers is to dock at around 6:00 pm, the minister said.

This is shortly after the MS Monarch Cruise Ship, operated by Spain's largest cruise line, Pullmantur Cruises, with a capacity of just over 2,700 passengers departs this afternoon at around 3:30 pm.

“We are ensuring that these albeit impromptu visits are utilised effectively as an opportunity to showcase Kingston and its offerings. Stakeholders are actively engaged in ensuring that things run as smoothly as possible. Let us not forget that unfavourable weather conditions would originally cause ships to bypass us completely, now we are encouraging them to come to Kingston, on our south coast instead,” Bartlett noted.

The news comes on the heels of the growth of boutique cruise tourism in Port Antonio, Portland with two cruise ships visiting in the last three weeks and another two later this month.
