Attempted prison break, stabbing at Fort Augusta

KINGSTON, Jamaica — There was an attempted prison break yesterday at the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre for women, located on South Camp Road in Kingston,the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) has informed.

An official at DCS told OBSERVER ONLINE that the escape bid was made around the same time that an inmate was stabbed several times during a brawl with another inmate.

The wounded woman is currently being treated at hospital.

The DCS official also informed that following the melee, wardens at the correctional facility found cellular phones in one of the cells.

The items were confiscated.
