KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Kemar Bailey-Cole equaled his personal best to win the IAAF World Challenge 100m race yesterday, continuing his fine form this season which includes an Olympic gold medal as part of Jamaica’s winning 4x100m team.
Bailey-Cole ran 10.00 seconds, the same time he did at the National Trial in June, to hold off former world 100m champion, Kim Collins of St Kitts and Nevis (10.07). Frenchman Jimmy Vicaut (10.12) was third.
Mario Forsythe (10.19) and Michael Frater (10.20) finished down the track in fifth and sixth respectively.
Two other Jamaicans had podium finishes as Kerron Stewart did 11.27 seconds to finish behind Trinidad and Tobago’s Kelly-Ann Baptiste (11.25). France’s Myriam Soumare (11.34) was third.
Leford Green clocked 49.06 to also take a runner-up spot in the 400m hurdles behind Olympic champion Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic (48.89).
Shermaine Williams (12.90) finished fourth in the women’s sprint hurdles won by American Kellie Wells (12.72).
