KINGSTON, Jamaica -- The Government has instituted a temporary suspension of the operations of personal water crafts (PWCs) or private jet skis across the island, with immediate effect.

In addition, the ban on the importation of the PWCs has been extended by another six months to October 2014.

These were among new measures announced by Minister of Tourism and Entertainment Dr Wykeham McNeill in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Dr McNeill said that the measures were triggered by fatal accidents on Jamaica's north coast, between last August and January this year, involving jet skis.
