Bishop Alfred Reid is dead

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Retired 13th Bishop of Jamaica, The Right Reverend Alfred Charles Reid, passed away yesterday at his Manchester home.

According to a Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands (Anglican) news release, Bishop Reid, who was 82-years-old, had been ailing for the last few months.

Bishop Reid, in succession to the late Bishop Neville deSouza, became Diocesan Bishop in the Cathedral of St Jago de la Vega in Spanish Town on January 25, 2001, and served until his retirement in December 2011.

Bishop Reid leaves behind his wife, Gloria, three children – Randall, Annette and Damian and four grandchildren.
