Bloody start to 2018 in Clarendon, 3 people confirmed dead

CLARENDON, Jamaica — It has been a bloody start to 2018 for Clarendon residents as three men were murdered just hours apart yesterday in the parish.

The first incident involved the shooting death of 17-year-old Odane Baker, otherwise called 'Omari' of Rhules Pen, May Pen in the parish. He was cut down by unknown assailants on Cemetery Road in the parish.

Reports from the May Pen police are that residents heard explosions about 1:30 pm and summoned them. Upon their arrival, Baker's body was seen with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hours later, 33-year-old, Fitzroy Joseph, a barber of Rocky Settlement in Lionel Town was also found with gunshot wounds on Cemetary Road after residents heard explosions about 9:00 pm and summoned the police.

In the third incident, taxi operator Orlando Beckford of Raymonds in the Hayes district was shot dead by unknown assailant/s on Hayes main road in the parish.

Reports from the May Pen police are that residents heard explosion about 8:00pm and summoned them. The 37-year-old was later discovered slumped over the steering wheel of the car he was driving.

He was assisted to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police said they are currently investigating the murders.
