BoJ’s Chevano Baker is 2019 Rhodes Scholar

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Bank of Jamaica (BoJ) staffer Chevano Baker is the 2019 Rhodes Scholar.

The announcement was made at Kings House earlier this afternoon following a round of intense interviews with a panel comprising previous Rhodes Scholars.

Baker, a financial economist, topped the field of number young people who vied for the prestigious award this year.

He previously won The UWI Open Scholarship, with which he pursued a bachelor's degree in actuarial science; and the Jamaica National Foundation/University of Birmingham Legacy Scholarship, with which he did a masters in financial economics.

The Rhodes Scholarship is tenable at the University of Oxford in the UK.
