British man nabbed on cocaine charges at Sangster airport

ST JAMES, Jamaica — The police on Tuesday arrested a British man at the Sangster International Airport and charged him with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

According to the police, 29-year-old Elijah Wade of Nottingham, England has been charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and attempting to export cocaine.

The police said white substance resembling cocaine was found in Wade's luggage when he checked in about 5:00 pm Tuesday to board a flight to London.

Lawmen said the drug weighed approximately 1.65 pounds and has an estimated street value of $975,000.

The police said Wade is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court on Tuesday, November 19.
