Burnt bodies lie rotting

JamaicaObserver.com

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

RESIDENTS of Whitfield Avenue in St Andrew are pleading with the authorities to remove three burnt out bodies which have been lying in the community since Monday.

The rotting remains are those of three family members who were killed during an arson attack which was launched on a house in the area by thugs.

The residents claim they have been unable to get assistance as they were barricaded inside their community. They claim funeral home workers were denied access as the roads were blocked by persons who are in solidarity with wanted fugitive, Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

"This is wickedness. The people done dead already and rain come and fall on them and the sun come shine on them," one woman said.

The residents say they fear for their health and pleaded with the authorities to come to their assistance.

When the Observer roving team visited the area, the stench of the dead bodies was overpowering. Flies were seen hovering around the corpses and charred body parts were clearly visible.

Residents said the community was invaded by members of the Stinger gang who fired a barrage of shots and torched the house with the three persons inside.

This is not good at all. Even for the health of this community.
What about the trauma the children from this community are going through after discovering that there are dead bodies rotting within their neighborhood?

No body know if these people are innocent or guilty, but some comment on how they deserve it. Sad, but I have three elderly female relative that lives in the inner city, it could have been them, and that's how you feel. Then, how should I feel when certain situation reach you, I am going to reflect on how you treated me, and how you felt about me. Life is 360, you like blood so when you see your own don't feel bad. The healing must start some place, but I see Jamaicans still blood thirsty..

@ Lu Pai:
I understand your feelings, but please understand one thing. It is not necessarily THE SAME people who block the roads who are now calling for assistance. We must stop considering EVERYONE in a community to be guilty of the acts of SOME. These are OUR FELLOW JAMAICANS who are calling out for help. We must stop treating each other with scorn and contempt.

Terrible, but this is what happen when you harbor thugs and murderers, the people block the roads from officers and now they are calling out for the authority to come in and clean up, let this be a lesson to all of you.

This is a disgrace in these modern times...but I am sure the reason is because all of the resources are focused on Tivoli. I hope that the community will get some help soon.
