KINGSTON, Jamaica — A Canadian man is to face the court tomorrow, following his arrest at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston when a quantity of cocaine was reportedly found in his luggage.

The accused, 55-year-old David Barnes, an upholsterer of a Toronto, Canada address, has since been charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and attempting to export cocaine.

The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the police force in a release yesterday said that a drug-sniffing dog at the airport led authorities to the cocaine about 2:20 pm on Sunday.

“Barnes arrived at the NMIA to board a flight to Toronto, Canada. A police canine alerted its handler to one of his suitcases where cocaine weighing approximately eight pounds was found” CCU reported.

The drug is estimated to worth $4 million on the street.
