Candlelight vigil for Lowell Hawthorne at UWI this Saturday

KINGSTON, Jamaica — There will be a candlelight vigil for former president and CEO of Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, Lowell Hawthorne, this Saturday at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.

Hawthorne reportedly committed suicide last Saturday at his business place in New York.

According to tweets from Golden Krust Bakery, the vigil will be held at the Undercroft from 6:00pm to 8:00pm to celebrate the life of their hero and legend.

All are invited and persons are being asked to walk with a candle, sign the condolence book, and pay tribute to the life of an incredible man.

A similar candlelight vigil will be held at the Golden Krust's first location at 1381 East Gunhill Road in Bronx, New York on Saturday.

Also, a wake will be held for Hawthorne at the Grace Baptist Church on 52 S. 6th Avenue, Mt Vernon, NY on December 18 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

A homecoming service will also be held at the Christian Cultural Centre at 12020 Flatlands Ave in Brooklyn on December 19, with a viewing of the body at 8:00am and the service beginning at 9:00am.

His interment will also be on December 19.
