KINGSTON, Jamaica — Caribbean Airlines (CAL) says it is now operating flights to Tortola and Antigua to evacuate people from the islands ravaged by Hurricane Irma.

“The airlines extend our deepest concern and empathy to those affected by the hurricanes in the region,” the airline said in a release today.

CAL said it will operate another relief flight tomorrow, September 16, from Port-of-Spain to St Maarten departing at 7:00 am.

The flight will leave St Maarten for Kingston at 9:35 am with Jamaicans and other CARICOM nationals who have been affected by the hurricane, the CAL release said.

The aircraft will then depart Kingston at 11:15 am (Jamaica time) to St Maarten with supplies from Jamaica.

It will then take nationals of Trinidad and Tobago and other CARICOM countries from St Maarten, departing at 3:30 pm for Piarco International Airport where it should land around 5:05 pm.

CAL advised that in accordance with the conditions established by the authorities in St Maarten, the airline will not carry commercial passengers on these flights.
