China, US tied in Olympic medal count

KINGSTON, Jamaica — CHINA and the United States are tied in the lead with17 medals each as the London Olympics enter its seventh day.
China has nine gold, five silver and three bronze medals so far, while the US has a total of five gold, seven silver and five bronze medals.
Third is Japan with 11 medals and fourth, Italy with eight.
Thirty-eight medals have been issued so far today, the sixth day of the 30th Olympiad.
12 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze medals have been won after diving, gymnastics, swimming, and weight lifting events.
